What a PPTX actually stores

Handing a deck to a model is a common thing to want and something almost no converter offers, which is odd — "summarise this deck" and "what is this deck actually arguing" are among the most useful questions you can ask about a presentation.

A deck is an argument compressed into fragments, and models are good at reconstructing the argument — but only if the fragments arrive in order and grouped by slide, rather than as one undifferentiated pile of phrases.

What survives the conversion

Every slide in order, each as its own section. The first text block on a slide is treated as its title and the rest as bullets, which matches how decks are almost universally built.

What does not

Speaker notes are deliberately excluded — they are a parallel document, and mixing them into slide text makes a deck read as though it contradicts itself. Images, charts and diagrams are lost, which on a heavily visual deck can be most of the meaning. Slide layout and animation order carry no text and do not appear.

Saying so plainly is deliberate. A converter that quietly drops half a document is worse than one that tells you which half, because you can work around a limit you know about.

Questions

Are speaker notes included?

No. They are usually written to a different audience than the slides, and merging the two produces a document that appears to contradict itself. If you need them, they are worth converting as a separate pass.

What happens to charts and images?

They are lost — they are not text. On a deck where the charts carry the argument, expect the conversion to read as an outline rather than as the whole story.

Does slide order survive?

Yes, slides are numbered and converted in file order, which is the order they present in.
