This Privacy Policy explains what information Frompting collects, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have over your data.

Overview

Frompting ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect when you use Frompting at frompting.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Data We Collect

Account data — when you register, we collect your name and email address. We also record the IP address used at sign-up to help prevent fraud and abuse (for example, enforcing the one-free-account and usage limits).

Prompt content — the topics, context, and settings you enter to generate a prompt, and the prompts we produce for you. Saved prompts are kept in your account; other prompts are retained temporarily (see Data Retention).

Usage data — prompts generated, frameworks used, and feature interactions, used to improve the service.

Technical data — browser type, IP address, and device information collected automatically via server logs and analytics.

Payment data — if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store card details.

Marketing preferences — if you opt in to our newsletter, we store your email address to send occasional product updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Your own AI keys (BYOK) — if you use the optional "run with your own API key" feature, your key is stored only in your browser. It is passed through our server solely to relay that single request to your chosen AI provider and is never stored or logged on our servers.

How We Use It

• To provide, operate, and improve Frompting
• To generate prompts and, when you request it, run them — which requires sending your input to AI model providers (see Data Sharing)
• To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset)
• To send newsletter/product emails, only if you have opted in
• To prevent fraud and abuse and to enforce account and usage limits
• To analyse usage patterns and fix bugs
• To process payments and manage subscriptions
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your data. We do not use your prompts to train our own AI models.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you logged in and to collect anonymous usage analytics. No third-party advertising cookies are used. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some features (like staying logged in) may not work without them.

Browser Extension

Frompting offers an optional Chrome browser extension that adds a one-click "enhance" button to AI chat websites (such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini). The extension follows the same privacy principles as the website, with these specifics:

• What it sends — only the text you explicitly choose to enhance is sent to the Frompting backend (the same service as this website) to generate the improved prompt. The extension does not read your browsing history, other tabs, or any page content you have not asked it to enhance.
• Where it runs — the enhancer only activates on AI sites in our built-in list, plus any additional site you manually enable via "Enable on this site." It does not run in the background or on other websites.
• Signed-in features — if you are logged in at frompting.com, your existing session is used to unlock Premium features (image/video modes, Brand Kit, Saved Prompts). No separate password is stored by the extension.
• Local settings — your preferences (backend URL, last-used framework, Brand Kit choice) and the list of sites you have enabled are stored only in your browser, not on our servers.
• Your own AI keys — if you use "run with your own API key" from the extension, the key stays in your browser and is never stored or logged on our servers (see BYOK above).

The text you enhance is processed exactly as described elsewhere in this policy, including transmission to the AI model providers listed under Data Sharing. Please avoid entering sensitive personal or confidential information.

Data Sharing

We only share data with third parties where necessary to operate the service:

• AI model providers — to generate (and, if you choose, run) a prompt, the text you enter is transmitted to third-party large-language-model providers such as OpenAI, Google, Groq, DeepInfra, OpenRouter, Mistral and similar. Please avoid entering sensitive personal or confidential information into prompts.
• Stripe — payment processing
• Email provider — sending transactional and (if opted in) newsletter emails
• Hosting provider — server infrastructure
• Analytics — anonymous aggregate usage data only

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Prompts you explicitly save are kept until you delete them or close your account; other prompts you generate are stored on our servers for up to 90 days. If you delete your account, your personal data — including your generated-prompt history — is removed within 30 days. Anonymised usage logs may be retained for up to 12 months for analytical purposes.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Object to or restrict processing
• Data portability

Security

We use HTTPS for all data in transit and follow standard security practices for data at rest. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we take reasonable precautions.
